Middle School students learn about the geography and history of the world around them, broadening their perspective and exposing them to cultures outside of their immediate experience.

As our students step more firmly into themselves, they also experiment with creative writing, learning to express themselves in more complex ways.

New challenges emerge as students learn to turn their 2-dimensional sewing skills into 3-dimensional objects of their own design.

The science curriculum expands in Middle School to include subjects like hydraulics, aeromechanics, and electromagnetism, fueling the imagination while providing a deeper understanding of the world.

The geometry of nature comes into focus as students begin to pick out patterns in organic forms. This is where art and mathematics truly collide to produce some of Waldorf education’s most beautiful and iconic work.

Advancing in their Spanish and German skills, students partake in more cultural activities, as well, shared by teachers from Spanish- and German-speaking countries.

After years of experimentation and the introduction of various materials, students focus in on technical skills in drawing, painting, and sculpture.

Band and orchestra classes give students the opportunity to learn how to play music not only on their own, but in a group, where listening is as important as making sound.

Students develop resilience and strength by beginning to work with wood throughout the grades program. Woodworking projects require determination, persistence, and patience, as well as the imagination to envision the finished object long before it’s revealed.

Every student participates in our plays, giving everyone a chance to shine on stage. For those who wouldn’t choose theater on their own, it also gives them an opportunity to hone public speaking skills that they will use later on in their Waldorf careers and in their lives.

Advancing in their Eurythmy skills, Middle Schoolers put movement to music and poetry, creating a kind of visual language.

We believe that every student is a mathematician, scientist, artist and athlete. Students learn fundamental movement skills through games and team and individual sports. From aerial circus arts to javelin to football to parkour, our students have ample opportunity to discover their interests and develop mastery.
