Starting with a foundation of global folk and fairy-tales, our children learn to read first by listening. Soon, they’re reading in small groups and independently, identifying different parts of speech and grammatical concepts that also aid them in their own writing.

A hands-on, experimental approach to science means that our students spend more time experiencing science rather than memorizing it. Whether through in-class demonstrations or outdoor, natural observation, students learn not only about the world around them, but in the world around them.

Writing is taught by introducing the alphabet through pictures, stories and sound symbols. Children produce vibrant, full-page lesson books, filled with letters, words, and pictures, essentially becoming the authors of their own textbooks.

After the four operations are introduced, students learn to think both creatively and practically about math, solving real-world problems while expressing their work beautifully and clearly.

An essential aspect of Waldorf education, all of our students learn to sew, knit, and crochet, quickly making their own clothing items and practical accessories. These skills strengthen their counting and number sense, as well as develop the left-right eye tracking needed for reading.

You’ll hear music all day, every day in our school. In addition to daily singing, all first graders begin with the pentatonic flute, eventually taking on orchestral instruments.

Art is an integral part of every aspect of Waldorf education. All students produce art daily in their Morning Lesson books, creating their own beautifully-illustrated textbooks. They learn, as well, to paint and sculpt increasingly complex images and forms as they grow.

Grade school students learn both Spanish and German and, in third grade, also learn Hebrew. We strongly believe that language education can open our students to different ways of thinking and learning, while also exposing them to a number of global cultures and histories.

A unique aspect of Waldorf education, Eurythmy is a movement form that physically expresses sound. All of our students learn Eurythmy throughout their education.

We want all of our children to be mindful stewards of the earth. In our gardening classes, children learn how to tend to nature, grow their own food, and cultivate a reciprocal relationship with the world around them.

We believe that every student is a mathematician, scientist, artist and athlete. Students learn fundamental movement skills through games and team and individual sports. From aerial circus arts to javelin to football to parkour, our students have ample opportunity to discover their interests and develop mastery.

A vital part of any education, our students learn about local history, national history, and global history through a combination of cultural studies, literature, artwork, language, and mapmaking.

Students develop resilience and strength by beginning to work with wood in the early grades. Woodworking projects require determination, persistence, and patience, as well as the imagination to envision the finished object long before it’s revealed.
