  • The Pedagogical Administrative Manager will:

    • Support the Faculty Director and Level Chairs in all levels of pedagogical administration (70%)

    • Collaborate with faculty and leadership to provide Reaccreditation support (5%)

    Primary Roles & Responsibilities:

    The Pedagogical Administrative Manager is an essential administrative role requiring direct collaboration with the Faculty Director and Management Team to support the pedagogical (teaching and programming) side of the school. The tasks and responsibilities are varied, but the primary function of the role is to support the faculty and Management Team administratively, under the supervision of the Faculty Director. The following is a more detailed breakdown of the roles and responsibilities.

    Communication and Scheduling

    • Provide ongoing support for the Faculty Director in daily scheduling and communications

    • Keep teacher, classroom and room use schedules up to date in Grades 1-12 using assigned templates

    • Keep notes of Management Team meetings and distribute to Pedagogical Advisory Council

    • Post jobs, maintain recruitment email, schedule interviews as requested

    Support for Extra Programming, Clubs and Classes

    • Maintain extra programming calendar

    • Facilitate approval process for clubs and classes

    • Coordinate communication between club sponsors, Management Team, and marketing

     

    Academic Report Teacher Support

    • Parent/Teacher Conference Support

    • Build and distribute sign-up sheets for all PTCs

    • Assist with deadline communication for grading and parent/teacher conferences

    • Coordinate with registrar on posting PTCs on portal

    • Collaborate with level chairs on editing of teacher reports

    • Support middle school teachers with printing of block reports

    Accreditation Support (in years 2-6 of Accreditation 7-year Accreditation cycle)

    • Communicate with ISACS, AWSNA and WECAN about timelines for completion of membership condition and major and minor recommendations

    • Provide progress reports to ISACS, AWSNA and WECAN as needed and requested

     

    General Office Support and Logistics

    • Maintaining up-to-date substitute list

    • Serve as administrative support for class trip and field trip reservations and payment if needed

    • Build out, distribute, and collect data from surveys several times each year for staff evaluations and other community feedback (as requested by the Faculty Director)

    Supply Ordering

    • Serve as the point person for annual spring classroom supply orders EC-HS

    • Communicate with classroom supply vendors about discounts, deadline, shipping, etc.

    Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Bachelor’s Degree

    • Minimum of three years’ administrative experience

    • Excellent organizational and planning skills, and strong attention to detail

    • Able to keep information confidential and communicate with discretion

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a solutions-oriented mindset

    • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with faculty, staff, parents, students and the public.

    • Demonstrated writing and verbal communication skills.

    • Must possess the ability to work successfully in a multi-faceted and sometimes high stress environment, handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

    • Creative project management experience.

    • Willingness to embrace the Chicago Waldorf School, its pedagogical philosophy and the wider Waldorf education movement.

    • Ability to represent the school and the education to a wide range of groups and individuals.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The High School Level Chair is a Pedagogical Leadership Position and an integral part of our school’s collaborative leadership structure. The High School Level Chair reports to the Faculty Director and works with other members of our Management Team to ensure excellent delivery of our high school curriculum, and can hold practical details and day-to-day operations alongside visionary leadership. This pedagogical leader will support all faculty in grades 9-12 to meet the school’s Mission and Strategic Vision.  The High School Level Chair will be guided in all aspects of their work by AWSNA Core Principles of Waldorf Education and Chicago Waldorf School’s core values.

    This is a 50% leadership position and will be combined with 50% teaching responsibilities to create a full-time position, and this configuration is part of our school’s governance structure.

    Duties and Responsibilities of the Level Chair include:

    • Oversee all aspects of High School student life, activities, and academics at Chicago Waldorf High School

    • Overseeing and designing a schedule and course offerings that is in alignment with Waldorf principles

    • Developing a curriculum that embraces our time and place and that prepares our students for meaningful work in college and beyond

    • Communicating with parents, teachers and the board about programs and policies in a clear and timely manner

    • Building agendas for weekly meetings and facilitating the meetings with an eye toward a healthy and collaborative workplace

    • Facilitating parent evenings and senior projects

    • Overseeing and implementing student disciplinary policies, behavior plans and safety plans

    • Coordinating with College Counselors and the Registrars Office for new student enrollment and college placement

    • Supporting enrollment and teacher recruitment initiatives

    • Ensuring that the delivery of the curriculum is properly resourced and staffed

    • Collaborating with faculty and the Teacher Development Committee to offer training, certification and other support to all high school faculty

    • Representing our school and the high school level to the school community and the larger educational community

    • Serving as a member of the school’s Management Team and Leadership Team

    • Building relationships with other Waldorf High Schools

    The ideal candidate possesses:

    • Completed Waldorf Teacher Training and/or Waldorf Administrative Training or its equivalent

    • A Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or beyond

    • Three years successful Waldorf teaching and leadership experience, ideally in a PreK-12th Grade Waldorf School preferred.

    • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Waldorf Education and Anthroposophy.

    • Commitment to the Mission, Vision and Core Values of the Chicago Waldorf School.

    • Knowledge of and connections with wider Waldorf Education and Anthroposophical organizations preferred.

    • Ability to infuse creativity and joy into practical tasks and daily operations

  • The Chicago Waldorf School is searching for a High School Boys Volleyball Coach.

    Starting early March and ending late May, the coach will oversee practices, and attend all games with the team. The expectation is to practice at least 2-3 times a week for 1/ ½ to 2 hours.

    Coaches should have an excellent knowledge of the fundamentals of volleyball, and experience coaching/and or playing at least at the high school level. Coaches must have the ability to structure practices to increase the skill and knowledge for the players. Coaches should be able to demonstrate skills and excellent sportsmanship. Our players are hungry for competition and are highly motivated.

    Coaches will be supported in their efforts by an Athletic Director. We have gym space, quality equipment and uniforms, and just need an enthusiastic individual to lead the boys toward a successful season. This is an excellent opportunity for the right person, with growth potential as our athletic program grows.

    Care of Physical Space

    Each coach handles the set up and daily maintenance of the gym and the equipment.

    Qualifications and Payment:

    The ideal candidate will enjoy introducing and developing fundamental volleyball skills, and an enthusiasm for the progress each player and the team makes during the season.

    Compensation is commensurate with experience.

  • The right candidate for the Lower School Eurythmy teacher position in our school believes that teaching is an art, that relationships are important and building an inclusive and welcoming class community is imperative.

    The Chicago Waldorf School offers our students a full EC through 12th grade Eurythmy Program. The Lower School Eurythmy Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering weekly Eurythmy lessons to the Lower School working in collaboration with the curriculum and pedagogical gestures brought by each class teacher.  Additionally, the Lower School Eurythmy teacher will work to ensure the seamless arc of scope and sequence of Eurythmy throughout the whole school in collaboration with the Upper School Eurythmy Teacher.  At CWS, we have two beautiful Eurythmy rooms, furnished with pianos as well as an auditorium space for performances. Accompanying each class, we have an excellent pianist and the opportunity to collaborate with other musicians and instrumentalists from the Music Department Faculty.  A bountiful supply of shoes, copper rods and a growing costume closet round off our resources.

    Candidates should possess strong classroom management skills, excellent communication, and an ability to collaborate with colleagues. We ask all our faculty to engage with the larger community through events and committee work. Although we are in an urban environment, our teachers spend ample time out of doors in all weather, and we embrace nature and the changes of season.

    Qualifications:

    The ideal candidate will:

    · have completed, or be in the process of completing an Artistic and Pedagogical Eurythmy Diploma recognized by the Goetheanum, Switzerland.

    · three years successful Waldorf teaching experience

    ·have at least an undergraduate degree

    ·be well-rounded in the arts

    · be open to mentoring and/or further training

    · have knowledge of and commitment to Waldorf Education

    · have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
