Megan has travelled the world- growing up, living and teaching in a variety of countries. In 1995 in Tapachula, Chiapas she taught English for four years at the Instituto de Ingles Javier-McKeever where she worked with children and young adults teaching grammar and conversational skills using a number of different curriculums. She was introduced to the works of Rudolf Steiner in 1997 which led her to a deep interest in biodynamic farming and Waldorf education. She moved to Ann Arbor, MI in 2000 and began attending Eastern Michigan University where she double majored in Political Science and Spanish. In 2004, she studied political economy and urban agriculture at the University of Havana, Cuba. In February 2005, she became a mother to a beautiful baby girl and in 2007, her family moved to Chicago, IL.
Megan began working as a substitute teacher at CWS in 2010. Additionally she worked in Chicago Public Schools and local park districts teaching yoga to children. She taught Spanish at Bethesda Lutheran School in Rogers Park for Pre-K through 2nd grade and consulted with a homeschooling group developing grade school and language curriculum. While her daughter began 1st grade at CWS, Megan completed the Arcturus Teacher Training Program, graduating in May of 2012. She has enthusiastically accepted being the teacher for the 1st grade class in 2012-13 who are to be the graduating Class of 2024.
She says, “I feel honored and grateful for having been received into this Waldorf community. It has been a turning point for me and what has allowed me to consider Chicago my home.”
