Zachary is an instrumentalist (clarinets & recorders) and performer from Pittsburgh, PA. Based in Chicago, he is a freelancing musician, educator, and founding member of the performance group, Mocrep

He has performed with a variety of vibrant ensembles and musicians, including the International Contemporary Ensemble, Lyric Opera Unlimited, Eighth Blackbird, Third Coast Percussion, members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Manual Cinema, Ensemble Dal Niente, the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the New World Symphony, and Mocrep. While a fellow with the Civic Orchestra, he established the annual Civic Composers Project; a local call for scores that includes performances, workshops, and recordings of selected works with Civic musicians. He regularly performs with the improv group, ZRL (Zach, Ryan Packard, & Lia Kohl); their self-titled album was released on the No Index label.

Zachary is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and DePaul University's School of Music. He teaches band and improvisation at the Chicago Waldorf School.
