Amanda is originally from the Chicagoland area and is delighted to be back home. She received her BA in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa. While earning her degree she spent seven months in Tubingen, Germany (just south of the birthplace of Waldorf education). After college, Amanda spent a year in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado which awakened in her a deep passion for nature and the outdoors. She worked on an organic farm in California for a full season and then chose to pursue her life-long calling and interests in teaching. When Amanda was introduced to Waldorf education she fell in love with it and immediately moved to Eugene, Oregon to begin her teacher training. During her two years of Waldorf Teacher training, Amanda was the Early Childhood Aftercare Teacher at the Eugene Waldorf School. Amanda graduated the Waldorf Teacher Training program in June of 2012 with a focus in Early Childhood education. She feels honored to be joining the Chicago Waldorf School faculty at this time and to be contributing to such beautiful and nurturing work.
