College Counseling

High school students work with designated college counselor Diane Meinke beginning in 9th grade and continuing through graduation. Ms. Meinke is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling and the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling.  Her expertise and guidance are an invaluable resource in assisting students and their families in making the transition from Chicago Waldorf School to college.

Beginning in 9th grade, students and their families are given an overview of how the college admissions processes work and guides them in assembling extracurricular additions to their academic resumes.

In 10th grade, PSAT tests are administered at Chicago Waldorf School with PSAT/NMSQT testing again in 11th grade. After scores are received, meetings are set with each student individually to interpret the scores and plan for the college admissions process. Scores are sent to the families and meetings are scheduled for further discussion and planning at the parents’ request. Juniors begin individual meetings again in the spring to plan for life after high school, with emphasis on identifying school of choice for application.

Individual meetings continue in the 12th grade as college, university and art school representatives begin coming to the school. Financial aid, transcripts, evaluation synopses, essays and letters of recommendation are prepared and assistance provided to families in the application process.

We at Chicago Waldorf School are pleased to have a 100% acceptance rate for our seniors in their college applications. Our students attend a wide range of post-secondary education institutes with success and confidence.
