After the quiz on the Battle of Saratoga, we next looked at the Battle of Monmouth, the beginning of the U.S. navy, and the story of Benedict Arnold's treason. Review the Arnold story before Tuesday, as we may have a short quiz on that material, along with a few questions about Valley Forge. Your other homework assignments include the following: read pgs. 183 - 201 about life on the frontier and answer the study questions. Based on your reading you are then to imagine that you are a young person living on the frontier. You are writing a letter to a friend in Boston, describing what your new existence is like. Use the article to inform your letter. In other words, this is a creative writing assignment in which you use events and stories from the reading to help you as you write your fictional letter.
I also suggest that you use this three-day weekend to begin working on your cover page, your table of contents page, your people, places, and events page etc. Remember that block books are due one week from today, no exceptions.
Enjoy your long weekend and I'll
See you on Tuesday morning
