Agriculture - Course Description
Friday, July 19, 2013
In this morning lesson block, the ninth grade will study farming in a variety of settings. We will particularly address the development of the modern food industry and explore the practical implications of a more sustainable food system. We will also consider our own eating habits, and how we might make informed choices about what we eat, and also how we can support the food systems we believe to be best for our health and the health of the Earth.
There will be an overnight trip to Angelic Organics, a biodynamic farm on September 12 - 13, a one day field trip to three urban farms within the Chicago city limits on September 26, and two visits to our own Ruby Garden on September 6 and September 19.
