Our Final Year Together!
Saturday, August 31, 2013
Dear 8th Grade Parents,
As much as I would like to delay this moment, it is time for me to admit that the beginning of our final year together is upon us. In a few short days your children will be entering the 8th grade for the last year of our journey together. The year we have planned is a very exciting one, filled with fascinating subjects and wonderful opportunities for growth and travel. As you know, our class play, "The Musical Adventures of Oliver Twist," will be performed in November and preparations are already underway to make this production a very successful one. Our class trip towards the end of the year will include a rafting trip down the San Juan River and a look at the remnants of some cave dwellings of the Ute Native American tribe. Before and between those times, we will be exploring various subjects such as Revolutions, Physics, Chemistry and 3-D Geometry.
To assist you in your yearly planning, I have attached a colored schedule of the block rotations for the year, including special dates of interest along the way. Also included is a document giving a brief desciption of the contents of each block. Our first Parent Evening is on Wednesday, October 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. in the 8th grade classroom We will be visited by Barbara Huckabay and Lisa Payton, who will describe the transition process to the CWS high school and scholarship application procedures. Carly Garcia will also be present to explain the process for applying to other high schools.
Vicki, Melissa and India have stayed on as our room parents and would be happy to help you with any questions or concerns you may have. This is a year of multiple opportunities for assisting, from play preparation to fund-raising, and I would be glad of any offers of help you give.
This letter will also be sent to you separately via your email address, along with the attachments. As always, please notify me via email of anything you would like brought to my attention. Thank you for all your help in the past. I know this year will be a wonderful one for all of us.
