Botany: Mushroom

Monday, October 1, 2012

Mushrooms spring up overnight, with no sunlight, just the light of the moon.  They have spores not seeds.  One mushroom is the largest plant on earth.  It stretches from the east coast of Canada to the middle of that country.   Of course, we are speaking of the root sections.  The fruiting bodies that spring up above the ground are what we usually call mushrooms.  That is what we painted with only one color: prussian blue.  We used a clean, slightly dryier brush to wipe away the blue wash to create this scene of mushrooms and moonlight.
