Welcome to Ms. Bikchurina’s 2nd Grade Eurythmy
Wednesday, September 5, 2012
This year the 2nd grade will practice the different quality of steps such as jumping, hopping, skipping and simple rhythms that are imitated. The children will walk complex geometric and mirror forms and do contraction and expansion exercises and movements within the circle. They will begin to do simple copper rod exercises, like rod rolling and “qui-qui.”
In 2nd grade eurythmy we will step the 2/4 beat consciously and accurately which will help the children to find their feet, legs, and uprightness between the right and left sides in the vertical midline (these are very important physical and developmental milestones in child development that are strengthened by Eurythmy and movement exercises).
Finally, social exercises that foster relational thinking with activities such as “You and I” and “We seek one another” will also be introduced this year.
