Drama - Course Description

After reading and discussing several scripts, the twelfth graders on what will be their Senior Play. After auditions and casting, the students collaborate on a design plot for the set and then began to work in earnest on the production. The seniors are all assigned speaking roles and also sign up for either a costume/prop crew or a set crew. They rehearse extensively, blocking the play, memorizing their lines and working on character development. The students have the assistance of a scene coach, a musical director and choreographer (if needed), set and costume designers, and hair and make-up stylists who assist them in a production that culminates in three/four public performances. The seniors are evaluated on their attendance (both in class and on crews), level of participation, ability to work independently and as group, meeting deadlines and on the final performances.
