Course Description: 11th grade Pre-Calculus/Introduction to Calculus

Friday, July 19, 2013

This is a mathematics class for 11th graders who have taken Algebra II/Trigonometry/Pre Calculus as sophomores.  As such, they are ready to explore the wonders of the Calculus.  Calculus revolves around systems that are changing and is represented by two specific tasks:  finding gradients of functions and finding the area under a function.  The former sets the foundation for differential calculus, while the latter is an important aspect of integral calculus.  A list of topics includes:

• Review of prerequisite material from Algebra II
• Functions
• Limits
• Differential Calculus
• Applications of the Derivative
• Integral Calculus
• Applications of Integration
