The first semester 11th Grade Humanities Trach begins with a concentrated study of John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath. Special emphasis is placed on understanding the themes of this book in specific historical context. The students' prior experience in the Agriculture block will serve as a touchstone in discussing the implications of farming methods in the early 20th century and their connection to the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression. The class completes the unit by writing a short research paper, in proper MLA style, exploring a person or event of the period.
