Today we discussed John Locke's essay on religious toleration. We then reviewed our course work, up to and including Locke, in preparation for tomorrow's test. The test will include everything we have covered up to this point. Please re-read your notes and assignments thoroughly. This block may be considered the first half of your final block test. It will include quotes, identification and an essay question, which I described to you in class. It might help to work with one another, to compare notes, in order to reach a better understanding of this material. I don't expect the exam to take the entire period. You are also to read Locke's 2nd Treatise of Government for tomorrow, then write down three statements from the reading and, in a couple of sentences, reflect on what he is saying. Do you agree with him? Disagree with him? Why? Show me that you are thinking about his ideas.
On Thursday we will begin our study of Voltaire and Candide.
See you tomorrow
Mr. Massie
